BSN Partnership Pathway
Eligibility for BSN Partnership Pathway
Students must be incoming freshmen at UMBC and declare by end of the first semester.
Academic Requirements
- Maintain a 3.25 Cumulative GPA- This includes ALL dual enrollment coursework taken during high school and any summer/winter courses taken outside of UMBC after matriculation
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in the Core Sciences- CHEM 120, CHEM 124L, BIOL 273/L, BIOL 251/L & BIOL 252/L (ALL attempts count in the Core Science GPA)
- Complete all necessary prerequisite coursework
Key Rules for Partnership Pathway
- Only one core science can be taken outside of UMBC
- Maximum of 16 transfer credits can be used toward pathway (including all AP/IB/Transfer Credit) of which only one core science course with lab may be used
- AP/IB Required Scores may differ from UMBC UMSON only accepts AP scores of 4 or higher
Application Process
- Indicate interest in Pre-Nursing when applying to UMBC or indicate interest during Summer Orientation
- Attend monthly BSN Partnership Pathway meetings throughout the year
- Attend Application Meeting for your cycle the semester before you apply (March for spring cycles and October for fall cycles)
- Meet with Pre-Nursing Advisors prior to application deadlines to confirm you are ready to apply and submit all materials by BSN Partnership deadlines (these occur in advance of traditional UMSON deadlines)
MSN-E Partnership Pathway
Eligibility for MSN-E Partnership Pathway
Students can declare interest in this pathway all the way through the beginning of their senior year and includes new students, current students and transfer students
Academic Requirements
- Maintain 3.0 Cumulative GPA- This includes ALL courses taken from UMBC and any transfer credit
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in the Core Sciences- CHEM 120, CHEM 124L, BIOL 273/L, BIOL 251/L & BIOL 252/L (ALL attempts count in the Core Science GPA)
- Complete all necessary prerequisite coursework (Courses in bold)
Key Rules for MSN-E Partnership Pathway
- Successful completion of 45 credits at UMBC
- Maximum of only two core sciences may be taken outside of UMBC
- Maximum of two non-science courses may be taken outside of UMBC
- AP/IB Required Scores may differ from UMBC UMSON only accepts AP scores of 4 or higher
Application Process
- Indicate interest in the MSN-E Partnership Pathway one year before applying
- Attend required MSN-E Partnership Pathway meetings throughout the year
- Formally declare intent for MSN-E Partnership Pathway by deadline (beginning of semester in year before applying)
- Meet with MSN-E Advising Staff to confirm eligibility during semester a year before applying
- Complete application process and follow MSN-E Partnership Pathway deadlines, which occur in advance of UMSON traditional deadlines
