Applying
Competitive applicants for Athletic Trainer programs will have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. You are strongly encouraged to view each school’s profile to determine what the minimum requirements are for entry.
Application Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Emergency Cardiac Care certification
- Documentation of 50 observation hours under the direct supervision of a Board certified and state credentialed athletic trainer (signed and dated by overseeing athletic trainer). Observation hours must occur in a minimum of two different clinical settings for at least 10 hours at each and should include a variety of populations.
- Two professional references with at least one reference from a certified athletic trainer. The other may be from a faculty member or another professional.
- Admission essay that elaborates on your short/long term goals as related to obtaining the athletic training master’s degree and how you will contribute to today’s health care society.
- Resume containing education, work, volunteer and leadership experiences.
- Complete an in-person interview (will be scheduled with graduate program faculty once application and admissions materials are received).
