Summer Enrichment Program

Hello all. Here is an opportunity that may be of interest:

The Jefferson College of Rehabilitation Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University is bringing its  Summer Training & Enrichment Programs  for Underrepresented Persons (STEP-UP) back to campus this summer!

STEP-UP is an academic enrichment program for students who are interested in attending graduate school for occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training and/or speech-language pathology and who are traditionally underrepresented in these disciplines and in the health professions.  This includes students who identify with historically marginalized communities, including:

  • Students from underrepresented racial/ethnic minorities
  • First generation college students
  • Students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Students who identify within the LGBTQ+ communities
  • Students who are actively serving or previously served in the military
  • Students with disabilities

This on-campus program will be held on our Center City Campus in Philadelphia and offers an introduction to the aforementioned rehabilitation sciences disciplines, classroom, lab, and simulation experiences, time management and study skills training, personal statement and resume development, and an introduction to the admissions process, inclusive of a transcript review and strategies for a more successful application.

The program is offered at no cost to the student and is anticipated to run Monday, June 6, 2022- Friday, June 10, 2022 from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 pm.  Please note that an adjustment may be made to this schedule as the program agenda is finalized.

We will be offering an information session about the program on Tuesday, April 5th from 6:00-7:00 pm.   If you know of any rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or recent graduateswho expressed interest in applying to an occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, or speech-language pathology graduate program that may be interested in this experience, please encourage them to join the information session to learn more!  You are also welcome to join.
